I truly have had an amazing time in college because of what you’ve brought to this university. You have showed me that good people do exist and you continue to show the whole world that every single day. I wish you the best of luck in the NFL and I hope you continue to do great things. I am a 2003 graduate of UF, but I’ve been a Gator fan for as long as I can remember. Even more, I’m simply a fan of college athletics. Never has a player done more for a university and sport than you. You took your role as a representative of the University of Florida seriously. I have always been proud to call myself a Gator, but having you as the team’s leader — both on and off the field — has made me even prouder. Your passion for football, the Gator nation, and helping others is unrivaled. Thank you and your teammates for the greatest four years in the history of Gator football. Thank you for setting examples my children can learn from. So many athletes and stars don’t do that these days and it does a mom and a former gator’s heart good to see it. Our daughter joined the Marines last year after spending two years at UCF and she loves you. I was not a football fan until I saw you play. What impressed me most about you was not how many touchdowns you scored, or how many yards you rushed, but the nature of your character and the immense amount of respect you earned from both fans and rival teams. Your faith and commitment are inspirational, even to someone like me who is still searching for religion. I came to UF with Chris Leak as my quarterback and am leaving UF with you. Two and a half degrees later, I cant believe its over-what a ride:) I was here for the University Ave celebration for both basketball and football championships and I can tell you, even as a North Carolina native, the immense pride and comradery felt with your fellow student body after winning a college football national championship is like no other. I wish you could have been there-it was amazing, both times. I want you to know I will always follow you and your teammate’s careers just as I have with other gators that played while I was here ( Harvin, Moss, Crowder, Murphy, Nelson, Troupe, MacDonald…). You guys are ALL very special to me and it will be bittersweet to see you “re-unit” with other teams in your future careers, but you will always be loved, admired and remembered for the wonderful seasons we shared together as Gators.
